Urban Balance

Individual Counselling

We offer a safe, inclusive, and confidential space allowing you an opportunity to build insight, coping skills, and resilience. We will work collaboratively with you, building on your strengths to help you gain clarity and confidence, and develop greater self-understanding and compassion, improving your relationship with self and others.

Relationship Counselling

Relationship counselling is for people wanting to repair, strengthen, and build their relationships. We understand these relationships as being connections between 2 or more romantic partners (traditional, open, polyamorous, consensual non-monogamy, etc.) or between family, friends, or colleagues.

Family Counselling

At Urban Balance Wellness we recognize that families consist of various configurations and welcome the opportunity of working with you to achieve better family communication and connection. We offer strategies to improve communication, build and strengthen parenting/caregiver strategies, and resolve parent-child/adolescent conflict.

Child and Teen Counselling

Child and teen counselling focuses specifically at young people. It differs from therapy with adults because it takes into account the age and developmental status of a younger client. Child and teen therapy is aimed at helping young people better cope with emotions, learn to manage difficulties, develop coping skills, and make positive choices.

Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Hatha Yoga Teacher, Yin Yoga Teacher and Prenatal Yoga Specialist.

Lori is a Certified Yoga Therapist with over 25 years of qualified experience in Classical Hatha Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Mom & Baby Yoga and Kids Yoga. Since 2020, she has been offering private therapeutically based yoga sessions for teens and adults, and is now available at Urban Balance Wellness on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Lori specializes in breath optimization and mindfulness for clients dealing with general muscular tension, anxiety and depression. With a diverse clientele, her Trauma Informed Training and Chronic Pain Management skills often come in handy. Ultimately though, she loves to share the ancient wisdom of yoga with her compassionate and holistic approach, often encouraging a life of contentment, where one feels a connection to self, the community, the globe and beyond. “I am continually amazed at the power of yoga to transform lives, both in my own experience and with my students. I have seen first-hand, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits that a regular yoga practice can offer. It is for this reason, I feel compelled to continue sharing the practice of yoga with others. Over the past several years, my yoga teaching has evolved to become more therapeutically based, which means it is my interest to help students prevent and manage dis-ease. Keeping mindfulness, posture and breath work central to my teachings, I also regularly make use of meditation and mantras for the benefits they bring. We all have vast human potential, and I would be happy to support you on your unique journey. What has brought you to this moment? Although everyone’s path is different, whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, yoga has an abundance of tools to integrate all aspects of your being (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual). With some guidance, self-investigation and expanded awareness, harmonizing your body, mind and spirit can be a natural and enjoyable process. I would love to be a part of your journey as you explore your inner and outer worlds. May you live a balanced life filled with peace, love and happiness.” Lori
